We have all started with the first step.
I don't think anybody but a very few lucky people are born with the fitness of Hercules or the physique of Adonis.
We have all been there. When people who are over weight or out of shape are faced with the reality that they want to change their life, change the way they feel, change the way they look, they are sometimes thinking, "where do I begin"?
You begin right there, thinking of change. Changing the way you think and feel about yourself.
Take the first step and think about you. You are important, you are important to other people.
Start to feel good about yourself. Make a healthy lifestyle a part of your identity. Make it stick. Even though you have just started to make this new change in your life you have taken the first step. You're Amazing!
Next, what are some of the easiest things you can do to change your fitness lifestyle?
Buy better food at the grocer. We all have to eat, so think about spending your food budget toward changing the meals in your diet. Eat more fish and chicken, try foods that are healthy for you. Higher protiens in your diet will make you less hungry later on and reduce cravings. Be a little adventurous with new healthy foods. Most of the time people stay away from fish or salmon because they think it's hard to prepare or fishy tasting. It's not, it just depends on how you prepare it. You just have to experiment with different seasonings or add a little lemon to get the taste thats right for you. Fresh or defrosted fish, baked, usually only takes 20-40 min in the oven. Its fast, easy and healthy.
Try healthy foods you always wanted to try but were afraid to try. Drink more ice water or brew some delicious iced green tea instead of soda. Blend a smoothie for a snack instead of chips. Eat more fruit to stay away from cravings. The point is, start taking small easy steps toward changing the way you feel and what goes on inside of your body. Be conscious of what you are doing. Be kind to yourself and your body. When your body starts feeling better and knows you love it again it will love you back 10 fold.
After a few weeks of starting to eat better you will begin to feel better about yourself, have gained some good energy and maybe already have shed a few pounds. But if not, don't get discouraged. Make good eating the rule, not the exception to the rule. Healthy eating is the basis of everything else. It's worth it. It gets easier as you stick with it. Make it fun, just be aware of what and how much is going in your mouth and avoid the "empty calories" that lack nutrition. You are in charge of yourself. You will remember because you want to remember. You can make that decision at every meal.
Breathing and Walking
Remember, before any major change in your physical lifestyle it's best to get the ok from your doctor.
You have probably heard it a million times how walking is really good for you. Well I have news for you, It's True!
Try to take a walk at least 2-3 times a week. Start slow with what you can do first. Find a friend that wants to go with you. Make it fun, make it your time. Work out in the yard. Wash your car by hand more often. Get the blood moving again and breathe! Start breathing a little deeper while into your activities. This brings the added oxygen into your system which helps burn calories and fuels your muscles and heart. Don't hyperventilate! Just deeper natural breathing that enhances your energy.
After a while you will start to see more color in your cheeks, feel a little more limber and feel great. It's always a good feeling when you can get out in the fresh air, get moving and start to change into your new lifestyle and more than likely, new clothes. From here you can enjoy and build on what you have accomplished.
