Consuming too many carbohydrates is said to be bad for the health. The truth is, carbs give energy and nutrients to the body for it to be strong and active. When you eat the right type of carbs such as complex or unrefined carbohydrates, you will lose weight. In order to for you to shed off unwanted pounds with carbohydrates, take away the simple carbs found in soft drinks, white bread, pasta and white rice. The body easily digests these and they contribute not to weight loss but to weight gain. Your diet should instead have complex carbohydrates such as fresh fruits, veggies, legumes and whole grains like brown rice, millet, quinoa, rye, steel cutouts and whole wheat flour.

Fifty percent of the calories you take in daily should consist of carbohydrates. In a daily diet that has two thousand calories, the carbohydrates in it should be around 250 grams coming from healthy origins. Always consume non-processed and whole carbohydrates if possible as these are food items that are still intact. Apples are examples of whole food whereas applesauce is not.

In order to lose weight, you should know the amount of carbohydrates you take in. If you wish to begin a diet that is low in carbohydrates, you should start with minimal amount of good or healthy carbs. If you start small, you shall shed off fats quickly. You will also be aware on the amount of weight you lose at various levels of your consumption of carbohydrates. You can start with one small salad or forty to fifty grams of carbohydrates daily. The quantity of carbs you take in shall be based on your activity level, personal health and the kind of low-carb diet you follow .

When your diet does not have sufficient carbohydrates to bring fuel inside your body, the process of ketosis occurs which involves converting your body fat to energy. This fuel is provided by carbohydrates and sugar and when there is not enough of this, the body looks for another source such as stored body fat. This fat is stored by the body for future use if additional energy is needed. It is turned into ketones that give fuel to the body. When the body utilizes the stored fat to formulate energy, this is the time you lose weight.

When you start losing weight and you experience ketosis, you have to slowly increase the quantity of carbohydrates you take in. You need to cautiously keep track of your carbohydrate intake during this process. Check your weight daily as well so that you will know at what speed you are shedding off pounds. When you add carbs to your diet, weight loss shall slow down and when it completely stops, you must lessen the carbohydrates you take in by going to that level of consumption where your weight loss was strongest.

Many fad diets have been formulated without carbohydrates thus making people weak because of the lack of energy. You need carbs to lose weight and these are the unrefined, good and healthy carbohydrates that dieticians recommend.
