The natural sugars from fruits provide unrefined carbohydrates which slowly break down in the bloodstream. Sweeteners that are unrefined are usually yellowish or brownish and examples are barley malt, honey, molasses, rice syrup, Turbinado sugar and unrefined cane sugar. Other foods with unrefined carbohydrates that are fiber-enriched are nuts and beans.
Refined sweeteners are not healthy and an example would be white sugar which is usually found in cakes, cookies, ice cream, pastries and pies. When you add white sugar to your coffee or tea, this increases the amount of refined carbohydrates in your body. Instead of white sugar, it is best to opt for agave nectar, palm sugar, maize sugar, birch syrup or sorghum syrup.
For better health and a stronger and younger body, it is best to consume foods with unrefined carbohydrates.
