The thought behind the Caveman Diet is that the human body better adapts to the food eaten by the people living in the Paleolithic era. It believes that a person shall get back lost strength and become vital and strong the way their ancestors were. According to the supporters of this diet plan which is also known as the Paleo diet, the foods eaten today are not healthy for the body thus it loses its balance. In order to restore such balance, one should eat the way the cavemen did. These foods include bacon, ham, port, red meat, venison, seafood, fish, post-agriculture or herd-based cheese, eggs, nuts with the exception of cashews and peanuts, seeds, raw or steamed veggies, berries and fruits.
A person has to know the extent he is prepared to take in beginning the Caveman diet plan. Its elements differ according to its practitioner or source followed. There are followers who consume so much meat and refrain from it for one and a half days. The purpose of this is to emulate the way the cavemen ate where they did not eat meat for a certain period after days of consuming it. Fruits and veggies were eaten during this time while baked foods such as bread were introduced when agriculture came about. There are also advocates of this diet who eat raw meat while others ate them cooked as they claim the Paleolithic people had fire and cooked their food.
A person doing the Caveman diet must prepare his kitchen. He should have space, like a big freezer, where he can place his meat supplies. He should have a refrigerator where he can store his fresh berries, fruits and vegetables and a space in his pantry for jerky, nuts and some veggies. Because he should avoid bean, processed foods, potatoes, salt and sugar, he does not need to have a space in his kitchen for them.
Once a person has all the requirements for the Caveman diet plan, he should start it immediately. At first, he must ease himself slowly into the diet. He can do this weekly or by days. He should do whatever he thinks is best and comfortable for him at that particular moment.
He must not divide his diet into breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks since he is a grazer now. He is not like the modern many eating three meals daily. He should consume six small meals a day even if he does not like the idea of consuming dried foods always.
A person on the Caveman diet must savor and smell his food. He must show both love and respect for it. He should use his sense of smell in working out the origin, taste and freshness of his food even if he does not approve of the taste. If he continuously trains his sense of smell, he will all the more enjoy his meal.
The Caveman diet plan is there to make one lose weight, be healthier and disease-free and flaunt glowing and younger skin.
