There used to be a time when having a Marijuana cultivation license was nothing more than a pipe dream, an urban legend propagated to kindle the fires of hope that growing the high inducing green grass was actually allowed.
Nowadays, the story is different. The lawfulness of the cultivation, possession, use, and distribution of marijuana depends from state to state. To date, the District of Columbia along with 18 other states allow marijuana to some capacity but with varying degrees.
Some states require a person or distributor top have a Marijuana cultivation license while others do not. Below is a list of some of the states and their laws regarding the cultivation of Mary Jane.
Alaska
Alaska does not require a cultivation license for people who need it for medicinal reasons. The state only requires that a person possess a certificate certifying that their medical condition can be alleviated by Marijuana.
Arizona
Arizona law does not require a person to hold some form of license or registration in order to grow marijuana. However, there is a condition. The only way a person is allowed to cultivate marijuana is when they are 25 miles away from the nearest dispensary.
California
In the Golden State, certain individuals are allowed to smoke marijuana for medical reasons. The law is not clear on how much a person is allowed to possess or cultivate. There is also no law which dictates whether or not a person needs a license or registration.
However, a dispensary or growing collective require a license to operate and distribute marijuana which are given through a county or city ordinance.
Delaware
The state of Delaware was the 16th state to legalize the use of medical Marijuana. The bill was passed the state senate by a vote of 17-4 on the 11th of May 2011.
Patients in Delaware are allowed to possess up to six ounces of Marijuana. Delaware is a state where a Marijuana cultivation license is necessary. State-licensed distribution centers are allowed to cultivate their own marijuana and sell it for distribution for patients who are 18 years of age and above.
Massachusetts
The state where the Boston Tea Party was held allows the production and distribution of Marijuana through state-regulated centers. However, in certain "hardship cases" patients may grow their own marijuana, without a license.
Nevada
The passed Question 9 on November 7, 2000. The vote was won with a ratio of 35% no to a 65% yes. The law allows patients to legally possess up to an ounce of usable marijuana and grow a maximum of seven cannabis plants. The law does not require an individual to hold a license nor does it require registration.
Oregon
Oregon is infamous as one of the leading indoor marijuana growing states in the US. Currently there is now law that requires a person to have a Marijuana cultivation license. However, it does require a person to have a medical condition before they are allowed to grow their own Marijuana.
