Finally, two states formed the spearhead in acknowledging marijuana and the benefits it provides us with by legalizing it for recreational use. Fortunately, it's not only the users who would get high as a result. Local economies are also seen to jumpstart with the move. This should prove that marijuana benefits are not only limited within the walls of the medical world, but also could spell good fortunes to the economy. Let's ask the economists.

Both Washington and Colorado are confident that the legalization should help bring forth a major economic growth. Many believe this highly controversial measure will bring in new wealth to both states, estimated at a combined $550 million, probably more. This is an important reference point in the previous claims of economists where the legalization could introduce savings to the U.S. government of up to $14 billion every year. Such figure could contribute to the country's economic health in some ways.

The legislation proposed the legalizing of marijuana possession and sale for recreational purposes, including of course the decriminalization of use. Both states also aim to categorize marijuana into the likes of alcohol, and bring it away from the level of dangerous drugs (where heroin and cocaine belongs). It also seemed that the Federal Government is not really against the legislation. Its silence, according to some lawyers, is an indication of consent and acknowledgement of marijuana benefits.

The reason that strengthened the stand of the legalization is pivotal in every way; the legal introduction of marijuana in the society is bolstered with what it can do for the economy. It had been estimated that the State of Colorado alone would make $40 million a year complete with an implemented sales set at about fifteen percent. Some experts fully believe that the state is not able to tax about fifteen percent on marijuana use without voter approval. State legislature would have to reconvene, aiming to pass another amendment that specifies how much of the tax can the state can still squeeze in.

Things change for the better though with the state having access to $40 million or more. Many believe this could aid the local economy in many ways. Fortunately again, this also got the attention of those watching from the sidelines. It was hoped that this could encourage discussion in other areas to learn how to exploit the situation much better.

There were also directions proposed by people in various walks of life strongly suggesting that marijuana sales tax could be funneled into worthy projects the improvement of public schools and other school districts within the state. This should not pose any trouble at all and instead a beneficial thing for educational institutions. The idea of teaching students of the best way to treat marijuana would be a good staging ground on how teachers can find good angles on educating their students about alcohol and tobacco products. This would a much better road to take rather than to persist that it is just of the same level as that of harder drugs like cocaine or heroin.

But improving school infrastructures is just the start. Imagine all the money that will be allocated to other state infrastructures. If we all give it a chance, marijuana benefits can work for all of us into the long term.
