Which is harder: persevering or not quitting?
Is there really a difference?
Yes, there is, but neither one is going to lead to a booming business.
Not quitting is a passive act. It is being a poser, maintaining your business, but perhaps backing off on building it. It's being a member, but not a badass. It's being an affiliate who doesn't do anything, feels bad about it, and plans to take massive action soon (you can take massive action right here, right now).
Newsflash: soon never arrives. You won't have a booming business soon.
Does perseverance lead to a booming business?
How about persevering? It sounds noble and smacks of dedication. Persevering also is not quite enough. Internally, you might be grinding it out, day-by-day, but you don't let anyone know that it now feels like a grind. Persevering is a dangerous place to be because it's no fun. It's the place where you get up every morning, look in the mirror, grit your teeth, and say to yourself, "I'm excited, how about you?–Gggrrrr!" It's not convincing to you, or therefore, to anyone you talk to. You've read the books, listened to the tapes, internalized the stories of others' struggles. You know it's hard, but that's okay, because you're tough enough to grind it out.
You've become the ultimate authority on struggling in online/network marketing. You think you've become tough, but really, you've only succeeded in becoming repellent. Nobody wants to be around you, much less be in business with you. If building a business is that grim, who needs it? Result, your business is not booming.
Plus, as hard as the perseverance sect works, they somehow never get the simple stuff done:
• blog every day
• market to get enough leads to convert two blog system sales per day, and;
• doesn't get one person every day to sign up for the next Empower Network meeting (the next one is in Austin, Texas, on January 18-19–be there.)
The success shift: from persevering to booming
What if you decided that this is not that hard; it's not that grim. What if you took effective steps instead of hard steps? What if you did the stuff that matters, instead of all the other stuff that doesn't put money in the bank? What if you
• Blogged every day
• Marketed enough to get two $25/month sales every day
• Got one signup every day to buy a ticket to the next Empower Network get-together (Austin, January 18-19, 2013)?
What if you did those things not like it's a death sentence. What if you did the things that matter with a positive and fun attitude? What if you smiled? What if you have fun doing this?
The work would be still be there, but it would be a lot more fun to do. Allow yourself to have fun, and if you are, notify your face. Smiling carries through in your writing, your videos, and on the phone or webinar. I guarantee it.
If you did those things, you see a trickle of leads turn into a gusher. The gusher would turn into sales, and sales turn into 100% commissions deposited into your account. Your money, your success!
So, be a happy warrior. Cheerfully do what it takes, be loose, funny, and totally committed to your success. One of the great leaders in Amway, Bill Britt, talked to 1,200 people about his business. Nine hundred said, "No," but 300 got in. Of those, only 35 did something with their own Amway businesses, but for 11 of those the light went on. Those 11 made Bill Britt one of Amway's most successful distributors. I didn't make that up. Read about it here.
It's that Simple,
Jan
