For new bloggers, sometimes the thought of getting started with something new, like drafting your first blog, can seem like an overwhelming task. It becomes very easy once you have the basic knowledge you need to write your first blog. The best solution is to just decide to do it – and work your way through your first blog. You will be blogging before you know it and I compiled put together some basic knowledge for you to help get you started.

The first thing you need to do is to determine what topic you want to write about. It helps if it is somewhat related to the theme of your web site, but it does not have to be related. Blog about what you know or what you are currently learning – chances are there are other people out there, like this blog that targets new bloggers, who are looking for some basic knowledge.

Once you determine the topic of your blog, you will need to do some keyword analysis. Keywords are the words you need to put into your title and the body of your blog, in order for those searching on the internet to find your blog. If no one finds your blog you will not get any visitors, so this is a very important step. On my web page is a video from YouTube I found in order to help you with the basic knowledge you need to do a basic keyword search. You will need to find keywords that have a lot of traffic and low competition (less competition means you can rank your blog higher, faster in Google and other search engines – meaning you can get more visitors more quickly – so this is very important).

Once you have the basic knowledge from the video on my web page and you have found which keywords you want to use – it is time to put these words into the title of your first blog. For a new blogger to rank well in Google and other search engines, there are some basic parts you will need to have in every blog. You will need to create something called H1, H2, and H3 tags in the body of your blog as well as to put those tags into your tag words, or tags, that help the search engines find your article. To make this easy for new bloggers, I will explain how to do this in a simple way. Take your title and in the body of your blog, click on the HTML tab on the right. HTML is a programming language you will use to denote these different H1, H2, and H3 tags in the body of your blog. I have the language right here below – just cut and paste the following onto the HTML page in the body of your blog:

You will notice I have my title above enclosed in the HTML code. Just take out my title and insert your title. This will automatically highlight your title and make it an H1 tag as well as align the title in the middle of your page in the body of your blog. Notice the H1 at both the beginning and end of the line. This is your "H1 tag". Now do the same two more times on your HTML page directly underneath your first cut and paste. All you will need to do each time is replace my title with your title, and then also replace the H1 for H2 on each side of the text for your "H2 tag". Then do this a third time directly underneath and substitute the H1 with H3 this time to create your "H3 tag". This is necessary in order to help give a favorable ranking to your blog in Google and other search engines. Now go back to the Visual tab and you will see the result. You are set to begin typing the body of your blog. You can just add text in each section below the titles you now see on your blog page - you have your three "H1, H2, and H3 tags" in your blog - wasn't that easy?

Also, scroll down on your page and at the right hand side you should see a heading for "tags". Put the words in your title in different combinations in these tags and then click "add". You will see the tags I used at the bottom of my blog to give you an idea of what I did for mine.
