Does size matter?
Undoubtedly not.
Almost every women wants a larger one!
However your stuck with what you've got and you'll need to make the most of it.
Unless you've got money to spend.
Hey! hang on there and clear your mind, we're talking home improvements here ...
We all view those great pictures of dream kitchens or designer lounges on the net and dream of one day having one, but are we joshing ourselves?
Almost everyone can have a fantastic kitchen, lounge or bedroom, but size is not always something we can alter, although we 'd all like to add a few inch's or metres on here and there.
Size is the one thing that specifies a lot of our choices and specifies the course before we have already initiated our journey in to home improvement.
Although there are those that reside in houses where they have the ability to expand everything, I 'd imagine that the majority of people do not have that option or the resources.
So where to start and how do you make a living space seem larger.
From the ground up is the response.
Know how big your room is, from side to side and top to bottom, knowing the sizes of your room means your are not going to waste time or cash on dreamy notions that are just to impossible to happen.
Make creative and educated choices on the look and feel that you want for your rooms as well as knowing your preferred style.
Style is a wonderful thing, it can be very expensive but it can also save you money.
There are so many homes that just seem to be !!!
"How can i say with out harming your emotions"
Junk/thrift store comes to mind.
Now lets not be nasty, if that is your type that's fine, but most of you antiquaries out there are going to have to give some things up if you wish to make your home seem bigger that it really is.
The key word in that last sentence was "seem bigger ".
Five metres is 5mtrs however you look at it.
Knowing you approach means you do not waste time on purchasing things you will later regret and realize do not add to the look of your dwelling.
If you are a fan of the Moroccan look you can look for specialized furniture, tiles and carpets and the great thing about understanding your style makes it so much more convenient to choose paint colors early on in the process.
I know a lot of people that have painted a room then brought in appropriate furniture, then chose to re-paint to match the soft furnishing and sofa.
So specify your style to begin with.
Defining Your Style
This is a love and hate procedure, typically the ladies love it and the man hates it, but it's still a great emotion when you see that one piece that's gonna finish of the look of your lounge, bedroom or even that new benchmark kitchen you have just put in.
For lounges and bedrooms try to select furniture with draws and under access particularly if you are trying to make the most of a little room, incorporate a space saving sofa. If you home is a studio apartment go for a quality futon that can be a bed at night and funky sofa by day.
If it's your bedroom your remodeling then go for beds with under storage space, but try to keep away from free standing wardrobes as for roughly the same price as a good wardrobe, you can have one created and fitted with the exact design you choose.
Don't go over the top on the mirrors but a couple of well placed nice looking mirrors can increase light coming in and really pitch it around the room.
Lounges want to have several identities! one for every occasion.
You can reach this by very carefully selecting mirrors and table lamps merged with the right choice of paint.
If you are somebody that wants it bright and airy in the daytime but warm and comfortable in the evenings, then lamps or spotlights can help achieve this.
By using lamps with dimmer controls is a great way of setting up the personality, a dimly lit lamp by a bright wall, so as not to bounce to much light around the area is perfect
If there is a niche, these can often be painted a darker shade and discreetly lit to add mood and mystery, finished of with a nice dark warm throw placed over a bright sofa for those cosy romantic evenings in
Try not to by to much furniture that does not have a duel function.
Kitchens are one of the toughest rooms to refurbish as well as being the most expensive, but careful choice of colors is a must.
Lighting is also a very big aspect as units generate a lot of shadows over surfaces, especially if you have one main ceiling light.
Try to use spots and under pellet lights so that your kitchen is evenly lit.
Buy units that have layers and turn tables in them and aim to make every piece of unit, surface flow into the next piece.
The one big tip to take from this is LIGHT.
light is what defines our areas, it's what brings the shadows to light, you can bounce light from one gentle colored wall to set the mood across a lounge or direct onto a masterpiece.
