Trading cards have become more popular over the years. Many trading card games based on famous anime shows have been released and enjoyed success . Some examples of famous anime trading card games are Yu-Gi-Oh!, Fullmetal Alchemist TCG, Digimon TCG, Bleach TCG, and Pokemon TCG. However, one of the first trading card games that are based on an anime show is the Dragon Ball Z Collectible Card Game. If you've heard of the Dragon Ball Z Collectible Card Game and you've always wanted to try it, then this short guide will teach you how to construct your own Dragon Ball Z deck.
Choose Your Personality
The first thing that you need to do when building your Dragonball deck is to select a "Main Personality" (Villain or Hero) and then gather your Main Personality trading cards . Most of the Main Personality cards in the Dragon Ball Z CCG have successive levels that you can "level up" to.
Choose Your Allies
If you like, you can also put some Allies in your DBZ deck. An "Ally" is an additional Level 1 Personality card in your DBZ deck that can help your main Personality card in a card battle. According to the game's rules, you cannot mix both Villain and Hero Personality cards in a single deck unless the character is able to function as both a Villain and a Hero.
Physical Combat Cards and Energy Combat Cards
After selecting the Main Personality card and Allies for your dragonball deck, you now have to include Physical Combat cards and Energy Combat cards in your deck. Physical Combat cards are martial arts skills that damage your enemy, while Energy Combat cards are special energy attacks that use "ki" to damage your opponent .
Setup Cards
A Setup card is a non-combat card that is used to support your main Personality card during a battle. You don't need to have Setup cards in your deck, but they can help give you an advantage in a battle if you use them at the right time.
Sensei and Mastery Cards
Sensei cards and Mastery cards are also not needed in your deck but you can put some of these cards in your deck if they can help with your strategy. Sensei cards and Mastery cards provide additional benefits during a card battle if you are using a single style of martial art ("Touki-Waza") in your DBZ deck. Some of the martial art styles ("Touki-Waza") in the Dragon Ball Z Collectible Card Game are Orange, Red, Black, Saiyan, and Namekian. For instance, if you want to focus on a single style such as the Saiyan style, then use Saiyan Mastery cards in your deck.
