Have YOU ever asked the question WHO AM I AND WHY AM I HERE?
Are we here on earth because of love? That is one theory.
Humans are here to love one another - that would answer part of the question of who am I and why am I here?
We are here to support each other; to uplift one another and show another being love through actions of care and compassion. Living things need other factors to survive: like an Aspen, they live in groves – they multiply from each others roots. Therefore, Aspens never stand alone. They need one another to survive. Humans are also connected by an arrangement of roots. They grow up in families and groups that nurture and guide them. They are not meant to survive long without belonging to a certain community.
What is the meaning of true belonging? Will that lead us to the answer of who am I and why am I am here?who am I and why am I here
Belonging is a sense. It appears to be a basic human need – as basic as physiological needs. In fact, the feeling of belonging is one of the critical elements that distinguish between those who remain healthy and those who are sick. The true meaning of belonging, is finding one's true place in life. Maybe that will give one the answer of who am I and why am I here?
So why are we really here on planet earth? Though Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs makes sense from an analytical standpoint, there is only little evidence to support its hierarchical aspect. It is not enough to answer the question of why we are here. Purpose is also subjective. It is too personal for people to answer the question of origin.
The answer is love.
Let's borrow a song from John Denver, entitled 'Perhaps Love':
Perhaps love is like a resting place, a shelter from the storm
It exists to give you comfort, it is there to keep you warm.
And in those times of trouble, when you are most alone
The memory of love will bring you home.
Love is all around us. Humans cannot deny it – even the most inhumane heart could tell its sovereignty. One of the greatest human fears is being, living, and dying alone, but love overcomes it so easily. The word love, and its related words, has been created in countless cultures and languages. It is the idea of all human existence, and yet it cannot be described precisely. Love is a state of mind, and it can also be fleeting and changing. To find the truth of love is nearly impossible. But one thing is certain about love: once humans find it, they can never let that feeling go. Love is what humans make of it.
Who would have thought that love would answer who am I and why am I here?
Even the genius in Einstein states, "Strange is our situation here on Earth. Each of us comes for a short visit, not knowing why, yet sometimes seeming to divine a purpose. From the standpoint of daily life, however, there is one thing we do know: that man is here for the sake of other men -- above all for those upon whose smiles and well-being our own happiness depends."
We have touched upon three topics: survival, purpose, and love. A trinity that is too profound to unite and conclude. You can also never break it down. These things are fundamental in answering the question of why humans exist, yet by mind and heart, it remains as terms – not as a complete explanation.
Perhaps humans are the way the universe learns about itself. A cheeky answer may be that humans are here on this planet because everybody has to be somewhere. Another cheeky answer could be that if we were somewhere else, we would wonder why we were there.
The whole parts of the body might be complete or at least functional to examine the question, but the question of why humans are here on earth, makes their heart go pumping while their brain goes scratching. Humans must learn that it's okay to admit that they don't have all the answers.
There might be answers or there might be none at all.
If we are searching for an overarching reason, we will not find one. For us to answer such query, we need something grander than survival, purpose, and love. We need something more to represent our answer...
Something absolute... or perhaps, someone.
Please comment below and give your answer to the ultimate question - who am I and why am I here?
Keywords: why am I alive, who am I and why am I here, why do I exist, truth and meaning
