Pretty cool eh! As a matter of fact the temperature then was a very cold -18 degrees C (-0.4 F). So what has getting leads to do with being at the top of a mountain in sub zero conditions?
It had required just about 5 hours of strong climbing making use of snow shoes to arrive at my objective, which was the peak of the mountain. This meant that for every 10 metres in height we had to actually walk about 50 metres in distance.
We saw a ridge about 100 metres up ahead and thought that was the top. Elation followed by disappointment as we saw another ridge about 100 metres beyond the first one. Our climbing was getting slower as we crested the second ridge only to see there was another one higher up again. Every step was an effort as we forced ourselves to keep going. It was too late to turn back as we knew there was an alpine hut about 200 metres below the summit on the other side of the mountain where we could get a warm meal. Just the thought of this kept me going.
The scenery was amazing but until we reached the summit, I didn't really appreciate it. The feeling I experienced on reaching the top was one of utter elation. I had succeeded in making the climb, although I had wanted to give up many times particularly during the final 400 metres of height. At the summit I really appreciated the utter beauty of the surrounding mountains. There is nothing to compare it to.
It was then that I saw the comparison with Multi Level Marketing and lead generation. Seems crazy but true. My analogy is that we all start our MLM and network marketing careers with great enthusiasm thinking that this will be the easiest business in the world.
For the early part it is still easy, approaching our warm market and getting positive feedback from people who say they will think about your proposition and get back to you. Things start to get tougher as nobody gets back to you and you start to run out of people who you feel you can approach.
You are now above the tree line. This is where most people want to quit. Your upline didn't tell you it was going to be this tough. You have some small successes followed by some failures. However there is this small track, a proven way, which gives you hope if you are prepared to follow it to reach the top. Yes it is still tough going but the rewards on reaching your goal are well worth all the hardships you suffer on the way.
If you are prepared to follow a proven system, keep focused on your goal and don't give up, you give yourself every chance to succeed and your reward will be the multiple leads every day. You will experience the incredible feeling of having achieved something that is absolutely priceless and realize that all the hard work was worth it.
