As the King maybe identified immediately by His Crown, such is the fact that your site, should and may be found by keywords it is adorned with! Keywords are the cornerstone of any good Website!
When done correctly your keywords have the ability to bring you buyer focused traffic. On the other hand, when the wrong keywords are employed, its a toss up of sorts, meaning the traffic now being generated will be unfocused and not likely to convert into buying customers!
Fresh Content, and Keywords that Convert?
Remember this, the content you create, and even more vital, the quality of that content, should be your main priority when writing your article!
1. CONTENT:
Does your content answer any questions?
Is your article enjoyable to the readers?
Does your content give any solutions?
Are you giving clear and concise directions, if necessary?
Is your content adding any value to the internet?
When writing your content it is essential that you know what your keywords are because it's much harder trying to figure them in after you have already formed your article/post.
However, when you do write your article, and it comes time to fit your keywords or your keyword phrases, (long tail keywords ), into your article, check that they fit naturally!
There is nothing worst then reading an article that has keywords stuffed in where they don't fit!
Remember your article is being read by humans not google. If you write for the google they may be around it, but what good is that if human eyes aren't curious about reading it thanks to the way it's written?
Lets move onto our main focus here, keywords.
2. KEYWORDS:
Are your keywords for "surfers or browsers"?
Are your keywords for someone doing product "specific research"?
Or, are your keywords for someone who is "focused on a very specific product", or service to buy?
Keywords come in many categories, but how do you know which ones to use? This is a hurdle that many webmaster's have stumbled over for years!
Knowing how to sort through your list of keywords takes time, practice, and yes unfortunately, "WORK"!
Not only do you need to sort through your list of keywords, you want to know how to create the list to begin with!
For starters, ask yourself this question: "who am I trying to attract to my website"? Not all visitors are created equal either, accordingly, not all of them are going to be interested in what you have to say, or what you have to sell!
Please don't get me wrong! "I am in no way saying that this is the visitors fault" one way or the other! All of the visitors are certainly welcomed, and I would hope that though they may not be interested in Internet Marketing, they may find something of interest. to them?
Targeted Keywords = Targeted Visitors!
Alright, what kind of keywords do I need on my site to find targeted visitors? I'm talking about visitors that are hungry to buy!
Keywords are a lot more descriptive than you may realize?
As an example, lets take the word Golf. What does that tell us, or tell us? Well, it tells me the particular sport for starters. It also tells me a specific category, unfortunately it doesn't really tell me a whole lot more than that?
Now if I use Golf as a keyword for my website what kind of visitors will I attract? I may just attract anyone and everyone trying to find anything concerning Golf, or, I may not attract hardly anyone, because they won't know what about Golf specifically I'm explaining?
Suppose they want Golf Balls, or Golf Shoes, what about Golf Clubs or Golf Swing! Do you see what I'm saying now?
Unless you get specific, by combining keywords into keyword phrases, which by being very specific has now focused and narrowed the search, for the potential customer, otherwise you may effectively lose that person completely?
How do I get a list of Potential Keywords or Keyword Phrases?
To assemble a list of potential keywords and keyword phrases (long tail keywords), simply use the free keyword tool offered by Google.
All you need is an account with Google which costs you nothing! Google has a whole assortment of free resources at your disposal. You can use Google Analytics or Google Webmaster tools.
Once you open your Google account you simply log into your account and see the Google Keywords tool.
The keyword tool is simple. Simply follow the directions on the keyword tools page by completing some blanks.
Simply type in your word or phrase, leave it set on broad search first. Set which category you need to search under on the drop down menu right there where you typed your word in. Now you simply click on search and your list will appear.
I just typed in the word Golf and I received 693 keyword phrases with the word Golf in it. You can now pick keyword phrases as you want. You can set as many various columns for various elements which include Global and Local searches, CPC, and so on.
As you use the tools available to you and become used to them it will become easier for you.
You will never learn unless you start, the sooner the better, and once you have really learned how to do keyword research you will begin to reap the rewards of free organic search traffic.
