The infestation of bed bugs is one of the most irritating things that may take place in your home. This one of the most apparent reasons that homemakers tend to work hard to keep those annoying creatures away from any part of the household. Aside from reducing the annoying effects that these can bring, it is also important to properly manage the potential factors that may bring about recurrence of the bugs. In this light, the following guidelines will serve as guidelines to help you eliminate these creatures for good. You should read up on these to more about them.
Rubbing Alcohol
Apparently, the use of rubbing alcohol has been showing increasing levels of popularity since the late 90's. This is so because most of the homemakers find the use of rubbing alcohol as one of the most practical means of eliminating the bed bugs using one of the most accessible type of formulation at home. Aside from its effectiveness in exterminating the unwanted bugs, homemakers find this a desirable choice because the rubbing also leaves a more pleasant type of smell as compared to other types of formulations that are highly intended in killing the bugs. One of the disadvantages, however, is that rubbing alcohol sometimes leaves an unsightly mark on some types of furniture. Given this premise, you should make sure that the rubbing alcohol will not affect the furniture. That way, you will not ruin it if you decide to use alcohol on it.
Laundry
If you suspect your clothes to be infested with bed bugs, you should perform some pertinent washing preparatory procedures before you place your clothes in the washing machine for actual washing and drying. For the pre-washing procedure, you should soak the clothes in water with an absolute temperature of around 120 degrees Fahrenheit. Preferably, you should soak the clothes in water with a temperature that is higher than that base temperature. That way, you will not have trouble killing the bed bugs that may stay in the clothes. After washing and drying these clothes, you should transfer them in a new and sealed container to avoid a recurring episode of infestation.
Vacuum
This procedure is typically utilized for pieces of furniture. However, a once-a-week use of the machine for your furniture may not be enough to get rid of the eggs and the bed bugs that may continue to affect your household items. On the other hand, using the vacuum cleaner to clean these pieces of furniture everyday may be extremely impractical. This especially holds true for people with a busy type of lifestyle. According to experts, sanitizing the pieces of potentially affected furniture every other day may be enough to control the number of bugs that affect your household. However, this procedure may not be sufficient to keep them away for good. In this light, you should make sure that you will trace the main source of the bugs. That way, you will have better control in completely eliminating them from your household items.
