From there you need to talk specifically about types and colors. For the type, asphalt shingles is universally the best decision these days. The price is lower, but the output is just as good as anything else you can purchase. Because of this, almost all contractors will recommend this. It is simply put the best idea. No matter who you are asphalt shingles are not a bad option when talking about roof shingles.

The color is limited by the material type. If you want to get crazy fancy with the colors that are on your roof, you may have to sacrifice and use a less secure shingle set up. However, most are going to be so much better than anything that is stock that it simply will not matter. A home will be much better off with any new roof than with the one put on by the home builders. Remember to keep track of everything you are purchasing so that the contractor doesn't try to use the leftovers on another project. Those materials belong to you. You can use them for repairs.
