Freezer parts
When you have a fully stocked freezer, the last thing you want is for your food to spoil because your freezer decides to stop working. Calling a repairperson might be a good idea, but sometimes that can take more time than your food has to offer. If you want to do a little troubleshooting yourself before you make the call, you might be able to figure out or even fix the problem yourself. This cannot only save you time, but also money in the end.
Before you start working on your freezer, make sure you disconnect it from its power source. Either unplug it from the wall or turn the circuit breaker off before you do any repairs or even troubleshooting. This will keep you safe while you work on the unit.
IF your freezer simply does not seem to be working at all, there are many different things you can look into before you call for help. If you open the door and see that the light is working, then the freezer itself is working and there is a more specific problem inside the unit. If the light is not working, you have another issue on your hands.
The first thing you should check is whether or not the freezer is getting power. Plug something else into the outlet you have the freezer on and see if it works. A lamp or another similar item will work well. If there is power coming from the outlet, make sure no fuses have been blown. If all of that seems to be okay, you might have to call someone to help you find the problem within the unit.
IF the freezer seems to be running but simple is no longer cooling, you might have a problem with the compressor, the condenser or the evaporator. You cannot change out any of these things on your own and you will have to have a repair technician do the job for you.
For freezer parts that seem to be cooling, but to the right temperature, you may also have several different issues. Check the freezer to make sure it has been defrosting itself properly. The defrosting cycle is an important aspect of how the freezer works and cools itself.
If your freezer is noisy, it might be the fan inside the freezer. Over time, many of these fans get louder. You will simply have to replace the fan if the noise bothers you. Noise might also be a sign that the fan is on its way out as it is so it is a good idea to get a new one before the unit stops working completely.
Freezer parts go bad as the years move on and it is essential to maintain your unit so that your food does not spoil.
