Oven parts
If you use your oven a lot for various styles of cooking, you might want to know a little bit more about the appliance. There are a few different oven parts that help the oven to work as a unit to cook your food. In a gas model, the primary oven parts are the baking element, the wire racks, the electric cord, and the temperature sensor.
Gas ovens are a bit different and their primary oven parts include the igniter, the wire racks, a gas line, the pilot light, and a temperature sensor. If you have a problem with your oven, the oven parts you will need in order to get it working again are different from oven to oven, depending on when and where the appliance was manufactured and the way in which it generates heat. If you need to find new oven parts, return to the store where you bought your oven or call the manufacturer for help in ordering the oven parts you need.
Electric ovens heat food using two different heating elements. These heating elements are metal and they are curved in a unique looking shape at the bottom of the oven. This part attaches to the bottom of the oven with a set of screws that bolt the heating elements into place. The design of the coils helps the oven to heat evenly. When the appliance is plugged in, these wires produce heat.
Gas ovens cook food with their igniters, which light vented gas. The igniter is either flat or round and it is usually made from ceramic. The temperature is selected on the oven parts and the vented gas runs underneath the main part of the oven. The igniter lights the gas and circulates the heat around the oven.
The two different types of oven use different types of power to cook food. Electric ovens just need an electric cord and outlet in order to access electricity. They are usually attached to a heavy-duty wall socket that can channel large amounts of electricity. Gas ovens, on the other hand, need to be hooked up to a gas line. They usually include a safety valve that helps to make sure no harmful gas leaked into the house.
Food is cooked inside the ovens in the same manner, either on the metal racks or the broiler tray. Most ovens have oven parts that include two different racks. Sometimes, you can adjust the height of the racks on the inside of the oven. Both oven styles have temperature sensors that allow them to heat to a certain temperature and then hold that temperature on an even level.
Oven parts also include light bulbs on the inside so you can see the food you are cooking.
