Wash your face on a daily basis. You should do this twice in a day using warm water and a mild cleanser. Massage the face with circular motions and do it lightly. Do not scrub your face hard since it can cause irritation. For cases of severe acne, you can try using a cream containing the compound benzoyl peroxide. This is an antibiotic that can prevent bacterial activity and lessen oil production.

Never pop your pimples even when it is really tempting. Many people recommend popping your pimples so that there is less reddening and that it decreases the pain you feel from an inflamed zit. Well, do not because this is not true. The truth is that popping your pimple can actually cause re-occurrence since the infected material is pushed further into the deeper layers of the skin. Aside from this it can lead to blemishes or worse - scarring.
Never touch your face when your hands are dirty. Also, try to avoid contact with items that can collect sebum and skin residues. These can cause the spread of bacteria on your skin if you are not careful. So always make sure that before you touch any part of your skin, wash your hands properly. This also applies to instances where in you need to apply creams, ointments and the like to any part of your face.

For people who wear glasses and shades, be sure to always wipe your glasses clean. If you do not clean your glasses properly, it can also collect dirt and lead to clogged pores.

Aside from facial skin care, you also need to take care of the rest of your body. Make sure to wear clothes that give your skin breathing room. Tight clothes can also lead to acne and other skin conditions since they provide little space for the skin to breathe resulting in an overly active sebaceous gland. Aside from clothing, caps, headbands and other accessories you wear on your body can also lead to skin irritation.

Keep your hair away from your face since this can also be a good source of dirt particles if you are not careful. Constant contact between your skin and your hair can also result to irritation of the skin so always keep a ponytail band or a clip in hand just in case.
