Each material has a unique characteristic and creates a different kind of carpet. Wool, for example, has a rich feel and a high durability. It is stain resistant because the fibers are packed together very tightly. This type of carpeting is much more expensive than some of the synthetic materials.

Nylon is one of the most common carpeting materials. IT is a strong fiber and it does well in heavy traffic areas. It is the most durable type of synthetic fiber, which makes it easy to clean and simple to maintain. Some nylon carpeting is more prone to static, but overall, it is non-allergenic and good for any type of home.

Polyester is not as durable as nylon, but it is even more stain-resistant. It has a wide range of colors and textures and while it can shed, it is easy to clean and resists allergens.
