For music instruments in the brass family, you need to lubricate their valves daily. Do this before or after using them. Do this with each of the valves.

After using music instruments, remove any excess moisture. After you finish playing, you can get rid of moisture by releasing the water keys and blowing through the instrument's mouthpiece.

Take any of your music instruments to a professional cleaner annually . You can find a cleaner at repair shops and music stores. You will have to pay a small amount for such service. The cleaner would give the instrument a chemical bath. This is a better alternative than just polishing your instruments.

You should also take care of and maintain a woodwind instrument. The first thing to do would be to carefully remove it from its case. Do not pull the keys or the valves when taking out the instrument from the case. When you replace it back, do not thrust in the keys or the valves.

Always clean the music instruments' fitted connectors called tenons. These hold multi-piece instruments together. They can get dust or build up of cork grease whenever they are used. To clean them, get a dry cloth and wipe the joints of the instrument. If whatever music instruments you have are made of wood, it may have cork tenons, thus you need to use a minimal amount of cork grease after assembling it. To take away the moisture inside the wood instrument, use a cleaning swab with cotton.

String instruments also need maintenance and care. When playing them, you need to press the string. To ensure that you do not destroy it, you need to keep your fingernails short. When your fingernails are trimmed, you will decrease the chance of wearing the finger board.

Whenever you change the strings, use a wood cleaner to polish and clean the fingerboard. When the strings are taken off, you can easily and thoroughly clean the board. Once you have finished cleaning the board, put back the strings.

On the strings of the instrument, place a small amount of string lubricant or rosin prior to using it. With the lubricant, your fingers would be able to glide easily on the strings minus the friction you usually experience.

It is important to clean your music instruments to prolong their life. Remember to store your music instruments in their cases when you are not using them so as to safeguard them from damage.
