Instructing Kids To Think and Grow Rich

This is a story about something that happened last weekend that made me recall Think and Grow Rich by Napolean Hill and about instructing children to have clear-cut goals and picture what they want in life ...

It took place at the 'Club Championships' at our ski club, and that is the final race of the year. And although both my children are good skiers now, and I'm extremely proud of them, neither one of them came in the top three to get a medallion. Nevertheless my daughter, who is seven, was so enthralled by the ceremony, that she climbed up on stage and stood with the winners. Here is an image of her in her pink suit, on stage, placing herself up there with the winners. I love that she climbed up there because a very important part of success is creating in your mind how it feels, and sometimes, actually positioning yourself in that position.

I've been reading Think and Grow Rich for the third time, but this time, I've been having fun sharing some of the content with my youngsters. I don't know if that unconsciously influenced her getting up on stage, but anyway, I think giving youngsters an early introduction to the laws of success and positive goal setting are good ways to get them contemplating what they would like and how they will achieve it.

Kids need to know the impact mindset and decisiveness have on getting want they want. I did not have a clear image of what I wanted when I was younger and I wish somebody had given me some guidance in that area much earlier!

While sharing a few of the chronicles in Think And Grow Rich, my son specifically enjoyed the piece about how Steven Spielberg got his foundation in directing movies, by sneaking into Universal Studios every day for three months and slowly and gradually got to know the people who affected his success. Spielberg was even so confident of himself that he moved himself into one of the unfurnished offices and put his name in the directory once his face was known. He truly established his own success by focusing on what he wanted, and acting on what he wanted in a clear and decisive way.

Making a clear image in your mind of what you would like, and working towards it with a burning desire, is critical to any success. And teaching kids about attitude and goal setting from an early age can encourage them realize the larger picture of what is possible and believe in themselves and in what is conceivable for their future.
