First thing that you must do is of course acquire the essential equipments that you will need in planting. That would be the chosen bulb, shovel or trowel, bone meal and of course water. Now in choosing a bulb, make sure that you pick a healthy one. Avoid dry or withered bulbs and even those with molds and sponges. Another thing to remember is that the bigger the bulb is for its respective kind, the more flowers it will yield. You may purchase this on respective stores or online as there are a lot of bulb growers that supply people like you who like flowering bulbs. After you have gathered the needed materials, you can now choose the perfect spot where you will be planting the bulbs. The trick in growing big and flourishing plant bulbs is to choose a location where there is a well-drained soil that has a balanced pH. This shall help the bulb to grow rich and healthy. In planting plant bulbs in the cold season of winter, you can choose any spot that has soft soil that shall enable you to dig a hole. However, too damp soil can lead you nowhere but to the rotting of your bulb. For areas without the presence of chill, then you may purchase a pre-chilled bulb but you may begin planting it later on early spring.
Now you have a soil, you can start digging a hole for the bulb. Dig as deep as the third fold of the bulb's diameter. So for daffodils, a hole with about 6-8 inches should be made. In this hole, put some bone meal or superphosphate to facilitate strong root growth. Fertilizers may be used as well, but it's not really necessary especially if you have made your soil healthy enough to grow the bulbs. After that, you can now place the bulb inside the hole and cover it again with the previously removed soil. Then, afterwards, water the bulbs to help it settle down and close air pockets as well. Watering is not really an everyday necessity for the bulbs. Sometimes, you can just water it you're having a significantly dry weather to avoid drying of the plant bulbs. Moreover, too damp soil or too much water may cause the bulbs to rot underneath. Follow these instructions and show extra care when visiting the bulbs. Soon, you'll witness the fruits of your efforts with its festive of glorious flowers.
