But then, since the actual store will have lower prices, why not take advantage of them, right? So, you drive to the store.
When you get there and try to buy more of the same thing, you realize while the cashier is punching in your purchases that when it came to the total, there was no discount given. You told the cashier that you saw an ad in their website that says all items are on sale on the day of your visit. A manger had to be called to fix the situation and for you to be given the discount. The inconsistencies in information between actual stores and their online counterparts can frustrate a lot of customer who in turn, will usually promise not to deal with these websites anymore.
At last, online shoppers are also at times faced with the problem of inconsistencies in the inventory. Most, if not all of us, assume that what is available online are also available in actual stores. So, imagine window shopping in a store, finding a nice gift basket and taking note of that as a great present for someone on her birthday. As that person's birthday draws near, you figure out it's time to order the gift basket online to be delivered to the birthday celebrant on the day and to her home address. That would be convenient and ideal, but what if you, like many other shoppers get an error message, reading "The item you are looking for is only available in physical stores. Visit us in the branch nearest you." That's definitely quite frustrating, right? These issues should be ironed out by companies that have both online and actual stores.
