What Makes Active Butterfly Style Better Than Hybrid Or Stand Up
The Active Butterfly style is superior to any other style of goaltending due to improved rebound control and increased amount of big saves. But what really separates Active Butterfly from other styles is how it makes the game easier for you. You will always know what to do and because of that you will play more consistent than ever before.

Why This Style Is Called Active Butterfly Style
An old school stand up style hasn't been in use since 80's and that's why you can't call hybrid a modern style because officially hybrid style is a mix of butterfly and stand up. In the other hand if you look at NHL goalies they make more than 90 percentage of saves at least one knee on the ice and often they go down before a shot is even taken. Would you call that a hybrid style? No, you would. Also does it make sense to stand up on close range shots when your shoulders are above the cross bar? No it doesn't.

When you put a one knee or both knees down and react with hands that is being active in butterfly format. Even when you are compact in full blocking butterfly, you still have to react to the shot to control it and you have to react to the rebound if there is one. Butterfly style is the only style modern pro goalies use and all the good goalies use a style that incorporates active hands and active rebound control.

Can you think of a better name for the modern style than Active Butterfly?

Who Invented Active Butterfly Style
There isn't a one single person who created Active Butterfly style because it is a product of an evolution. However I am (Matti Korhonen) the first one to officially name this style, and I'm the first one to call the modern style that is used by the best NHL goalies "Active Butterfly".

Who Teaches Active Butterfly Style
There are a few top notch goalie coaches and goalies schools who teach similar things as I do but I'm the first one to put all the peaces together and package them into videos. In order to get your hands on the knowledge I teach in the videos, you would have to hire an NHL goalie coach and to pay thousands of dollars. And I'm sure you know that not everyone can afford that. That is one big reason why I made these videos. I wanted that young goalies with passion, faith and determination would have access to the most updated and detailed knowledge, which I hoped to have when growing up.

As far as I know, I'm the first goalie coach to make this amount of detailed knowledge available to all the goalies.

Why Active Butterfly Style Is Better Than Hybrid or Blocking Style That Everyone Talks About
Active Butterfly Style makes decision making easier for you. For example when you see a player taking a shot inside of the faceoff circle you don't have to think anymore "Am I going to stand up or go down, will I use butterfly, half butterfly, reactive or blocking style, should I use my stick or pads to direct the puck, what if...?" Instead all those options going throught your mind and making you hesitant, you'll know "When he takes a shot I will go down and have my hand reacting and leading the save". Now all you need to do is to worry about which hand are you going to move. Much easier, eh?
