Skin care treatments are found in chemical-based products. However, these will involve huge spending. If you want skin protection without shelling out much, you can use herbs. These are safe to use without side effects as they come from plants. In this article are ways on how to use herbs to treat and care for your skin.
Astringents help tone the skin and remove dirt, dust and germs from the face. They can be bought on the internet or in groceries, cosmetic shops and drugstores. If you want to go the natural way, use liquid soap made from the essential oil called tea tree oil. This has been used by the Aborigines for hundreds of years as an astringent and anti-inflammatory. It can also be found online or from health food shops.
To make tea tree oil liquid soap, get two parts of distilled or filtered water and mix this with one part of liquid Castile soap that is not scented. Sprinkle 15 drops of tea tree oil and add lavender essential oil to this mixture if yours is a sensitive skin. Lavender is also useful as it calms the skin and is safe to use even on infants and on burns. This is a good skin care treatment that can be used as an astringent.
Skin problems usually occur due to an imbalance of hormones. For this, you can add another 15 drops of clary sage onto your tea tree oil astringent. Use this mixture on your skin as soap both for your body and for face to balance hormones. Pour this liquid mixture in a large plastic bottle and make sure not to place it under sunlight. This effective herbal skin care treatment will go a long way.
You can also make an herbal make-up remover at home. Jojoba oil can be used to take off make-up without irritating the face. It is plant wax and is not manufactured from petroleum. Place a few drops of this on a cotton ball and dab on the face. As you produce lather, make sure you do not scrub the face as this may cause irritation. Get a clean cloth and let hot water run on it. Take off the excess water from the cloth and wipe the face with it to remove the oil. Continue with this process until the make-up is removed totally . You can also pour a generous amount of jojoba oil on the cotton ball and run this over your eyelids and eyelashes to take off eye shadow and mascara.
You can also moisturize your face using jojoba oil. Brush this over moist and cleansed skin so as to lock in the natural oils of the skin. The entire body is covered with sebaceous glands and when the body is not moisturized, dryness will stimulate it into producing more oil. Jojoba oil usually has SPF 8 to help cover the skin from sunlight. Ideally, SPF 15 is required to protect the skin from the harmful rays of the sun. Other herbal sunscreens to provide skin care have lavender essential oil and the extracts of the plant arnica Montana.
Herbal skin care treatments and recipes keep the skin healthy and glowing just the way chemical-based products do.
