There are a lot of preparations to be done for a wedding. Things have to be prepared early to avoid cramming. Cramming usually leads to missing out important things or making things less than perfect. And if there is one thing that has to be prepared early, that is the wedding invitations.
Wedding invitations are sent out early for several reasons. They are sent out early so the couples would know how many will be actually coming through the R.S.V.P. request and at the same time for the guest to be able to prepare for the event. This preparation time is important for guests especially if it is a black tie event.
What are the things you need to remember in sending out wedding invitations?
A traditional wedding invitation is placed inside an envelope. Make sure that you put the correct name of the invitee . Misspelled name is never okay. If you are inviting a married couple, you can put Mr. and Mrs. Blank. If you are inviting your friend and his partner, put Mr. Blank and Ms. Girlfriend. If you wish to invite only your friend and not his partner, simply putting Mr. Blank will already give him the hint.
The invitation card itself has to have all the wedding details needed. It should include your names. Usually, the bride's name comes first. Modern day wedding invitations put the first name and family name of the bride but traditionally the middle name is placed in place of the family name. The card should also include the date and the time of the wedding ceremony and the reception. Make sure that you write the address accurately. Be careful with the number and street name. You do not want your guests to get lost.
An R.S.V.P. card is also an important part of a wedding invitation. It is done to ask your invited guest to tell you if they will be able to come or not. The R.S.V.P. card must include the numbers or email addresses they could contact for their response . The R.S.V.P. card can include information on how many seats you reserved for the invitee . This would usually make things clearer to guests if they can bring their girlfriends or boyfriends or not. In the example above, a simple Mr. Blank on the envelope would give Mr. Blank a hint that he can't bring a guest. A 'reserved-one-seat' information written on this card would confirm it.
An important inclusion in a wedding invitation is a map. This would help your guests easily locate the venue of the ceremony and the reception. Just make sure that you use a clear map. Do not rely on downloadable maps unless it is a high-resolution one. If you know that many of your guests would be traveling without their own transportation, you can also include traveling directions.
Another inclusion, but not a very common one, is a gate pass. This is usually done if the wedding or the reception will be done in an exclusive village or member only venue. This would save you and your guests a lot of trouble with the guards.
