One of the things you are going to want to think about when you are installing a carpet over a concrete floor is moisture. If your home is prone to humidity, it could shorten the life of your carpet. If you are worried that this could be a problem you can solve it by making sure that you include a moisture pad. During the carpet installation process the moisture barrier is designed to lie between the carpet and the concrete. An alternative to a moisture barrier is also a dimpled polyethylene layer which like the moisture barrier will prevent a damp concrete floor from causing the underside of your carpet from rotting, but will make it easier for the moisture to dissipate naturally. The other advantage of the dimpled polyethylene t is that it provides additional cushioning.

Carpet installation isn't something that you should really try to handle on your own. Getting the carpet perfectly aligned without any dimples and puckers can be a really tricking task. Spending the money and having the carpet installed by an experienced professional is an excellent way to ensure that you are going to have a carpet that is still going to look great years after it has been installed.
