One of the things you are going to want to keep in mind is that while the act of getting a refinish kitchen countertop doesn't take a real long time, you aren't going to be able to use it right away. The rule of thumb is that it will take approximately 24 hours for the entire process to take effect and for you to be able to put your newly refinished counter top to use. The best way to make sure that nothing ruins the process is to make sure you have made it impossible for your pets to get into the kitchen. You should also warn your spouse and children that under no circumstances are they to go anywhere near the countertop until you have told them that the process is complete.

The one down side to going with a refinish kitchen countertop instead of getting a brand new one is that you will not be able to do any of the work yourself. There are too many chemicals involved. Your safety depends on you hiring a contractor that knows exactly how to use the chemicals and acids and who will do a really good job. You are going to have to live with your refinished countertop for a really long time, make sure you put a hirer premium on hiring a contractor who does excellent work instead of one who gives you a discounted price.
