The New Testament is one of the divisions of the canons of the Christian Bible. It follows the Old Testament. It currently has 27 books, which are classified and organized in a chronological order. An overview of the different content of the New Testament is as follows:
THE GOSPELS
There are four books comprising The Gospels: Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. Each book is sequenced in accordance to subject they discuss. The book of Matthew traces the birth of Jesus Christ, his lineage and his resurrection. The book of Mark tells the baptism of Jesus Christ. The book of Luke deals with the resurrection and ascension of Jesus Christ. The book of John deals with the resurrected Jesus Christ.
The Gospels of Matthew, Mark, and Luke are classified as Sypnotic Gospels because of the similarities in their contents dealing with the life and teachings of Jesus Christ. The fourth book, the Gospel of John is independent due to its difference in content from the three. The gospel contains the account of Jesus' miracles not found in the others.
Another book that was not included in the New Testament is the Gospel of Thomas deals with the historical image of Jesus Christ.
THE ACTS OF THE APOSTLES
Also called the Book of Acts or simply Acts, this part of the New Testament serves as a connecting story to the Book of Luke. It details the stories of the Apostles as they moved on to spread The Word after the death of Jesus Christ and following His resurrection.
