There are many different kinds of Weed Eaters but the basic maintenance is the same for most of them. Most or all gas powered weed eaters are 2 cycle engines so always make sure that you have the proper mixture of gas and 2 cycle engine oil.
There are several things that can go wrong with your weed eater and a few things that you can try if your engine won't start. The first and most obvious thing to check is that the on off switch is in the on position and that there is gas in the tank. Another problem could be with the spark plug. If the spark plug is not firing it will need to be replaced. If the fuel lines are clogged then the carburetor won't be getting any fuel to run the motor. In this case check to make sure that the fuel lines are not clogged.
If the engine bogs down and won't accelerate you may have a dirty air filter. The spark plug may be fouled remove the spark plug and try cleaning it with sand paper if this doesn't work you may need a new one.
Another problem you may encounter with your weed whacker is excessive smoke coming from the engine. There are a couple of things that could cause this. Too much oil in your gas fuel mixture is the most likely. Empty the fuel tank and be sure that you mix the fuel properly before refilling the tank. The other issue may be with a dirty air filter which will need to be replaced.
You might be able to make your lawn look good with just a lawn mower but for a well- manicured look you will definitely need a good weed whacker. If you have a large lawn you will need a riding mower and a push mower also.
Once everything that can be cut with the riding mower and push mower is cut it's time to do the trimming. Start with the perimeter of the house and trim all the way around, next to the house. Then use your trimmer for any places that were too difficult to get to with the push mower or riding mower. Steep hills and small corners are sometimes easier to trim with a weed eater. Don't forget to trim around the trees and bushes. The last step would be to trim along walkways and the driveway. When you go along the driveway you can turn the weed eater up sideways as we talked about earlier to get a nice clean line along the driveway.
Not many things are more satisfying than a job well done. Stand back and look at your wonderful job and your beautiful lawn.
