The canister styles of vacuums have the most weight in the canister part (or heavy part) of the machine. It is because it has filters, the pulley system that winds the cord, the actual motor and the dirt/dust bag. There is usually a long hose that allows you to get to hard to reach places and pulling on the hose allows you to move the entire canister. The same rules apply when it comes to how the cleaning process works. The beater bar helps pick up the dirt and sends it through the hose and into the dirt bag. Since the unit has wheels on it, maneuvering is a breeze. Most of these canisters come with plenty of accessories also.
