Everyone knowing that a dryer can shut down at any point should know that being familiar with clothes dryer parts is a very smart idea that could save you money and time, especially if you consider yourself a "handyman".

Most people are scared of a dryer and think of them as some overbearing monster when all they are is just a huge drum kind of like a washer. It has a motor (just like a washer does) and pulleys also which are connected to each other by belts. There is a heater that is usually produced by gas or some kind of other electric source and it blows the hot air through to the drum and this is what dries the clothes. If one of your clothes dryer parts go bad at any point, your dryer will not dry as well or the dryer could stop altogether.

If you are the type of person who likes to use their hands, and you have to replace a dryer part, then follow the instructions below but remember to always do your homework first and get the right parts. Without the right clothes dryer parts, your work will be useless.

When you decide to start your clothes dryer parts replacement job, the first thing you MUST remember is to make sure that the dryer has no power. You can make sure it is unplugged but I suggest that you cut all power to it by cutting the fuse. After that, make sure you take off the ground wire which should be close to the bottom of the unit and if it is fueled by gas, you must make sure that all avenues are shut off so there is no gas getting to the dryer.

Pull off the back panel by unscrewing any set knobs on the bottom and / or back of the dryer. If you are not sure that you are 100% positive that you can repair the unit, do not even start the process. Removing any more of parts of the machine can damage it more.

If you are trying to remove the front panel that sits down below, you will have to pull it so that it will clear the cabinet area.

If you are looking to remove the upper panel, you might need to pry or wedge it off. There are several springs that will release when you do this.

Once you have done all this, you should have complete access to whatever you need inside the dryer's cabinet. Good luck!
