The world of paint spraying gets more technical by the day and so does the parts that goes along with it. So knowing your paint sprayer in and out and the parts that go along with it is very important. There are plenty of makers and models on the market today but they are typically all made the same way with a few exceptions. Everyone knows that having a paint sprayer around the house or business is a great thing because it can turn any painting job into a virtual one-day and your done event. It gives you the easiness of painting evenly and it saves you time, effort and money. There is one downside though. If you are looking for that perfect fine line painting, usually a paint sprayer is not that kind of worker for you unless you purchase an expensive one. One of the most common problems with paint sprayers are clogging and replacing filters often but besides that, they are a very good investment.
Here is how to go about cleaning and repairing any issues you may have with your present paint sprayer:
The first thing you want to do is make sure you lay down some plastic or some newspaper and lay out the pump, hose and nozzle parts of the sprayer. Make sure everything is spaced out and nothing is bunched up.
Start unscrewing everything. This includes everything from the hose attachments to the filters to the nozzle tips. Once that is taken care of, make sure you take off the hose from the actual body of the pump. You can do this by simply unscrewing it.
The third thing is soaking every separate part in a lacquer mix (also called a thinner) for about 20 minutes. Once time is up, take each part out and dry them off using a cloth. You can also run them under a tap to make sure all the thinner is off.
Make sure you have a screwdriver handy (Phillips if you have it) and open the paint sprayer pump. It usually has three to five screws holding it together and once you have that apart, soak those parts also for 20 minutes and dry those off.
There is a "check ball" located near the nozzle area at what is called the "check valve" area. Make sure you can move this from one end to the other and if you cannot, try to warm that area up somehow to allow that ball to move freely.
Reassemble the parts and add a new filter when you get to that part making sure that you follow every step to ensure you do not put anything on the wrong way or miss anything and your paint sprayer should work like new.
