After all, it is quite distracting to see a successful man who dresses sloppily or does not know how to mix and match clothes. That can even be a deal breaker for some of the ladies.

Formal wear for men usually includes blazers. For every couple of suits that a man has, he should have at least one blazer. The thing with some men is that they think that not being afraid of color applies to just every article of clothing, including blazers. This is certainly not the case. Blazers are articles of clothing that certainly should be neutral and traditional when it comes to colors. Being safe with the choice of color in blazer will never hurt anyone. Thus, choosing navy blue, gray, brown and black is great with blazers. As for fabric, it would be better to be conservative as well. Fabrics that are too snazzy like velvet, tweed and corduroy look informal; and for the office, it just doesn't look right, unless you are part of a more informal office setting.

Shoes are part of men's fashion that is usually neglected. But it is rather unfortunate that some men have rather too many rubber shoes and sneakers while they have zero pairs of formal leather shoes. Some men even go the point of using black tennis shoes to work, with the excuse that 'it is black, anyway.' That is just a big no-no. Any self-respecting man who gainfully employed and is not a professional athlete should have at least one pair each of patented black and brown leather shoes. Of course, black shoes matched go with dark pants and suits, while earth toned men's apparel would be best with brown shoes. Of course, these shoed should be shined and their laces should be cleaned (or replaced, if necessary) regularly.

Alas, socks and underwear are also essential ingredients of men's apparel. A lot of times, men (or at least the immature variety) think it is sexy to wear pants that allow their underwear garters to peep. That fashion statement became pass� as soon as Marky Mark graduated to become a serious actor. There is no need to show the world that you are wearing Calvin Klein, especially in the office.

Another fashion mistake a lot of men commit is that they like to wear V-neck undershirts despite the fact that they have a healthy growth of chest hair. That look is rather unkempt. It would be nice to shave your chest if you plan to wear a V-neck undershirt and skip the tie. Otherwise, if you have ample chest hair, keep the shirt buttoned and the undershirt round-necked.
