There are some important tips to remember when it comes time to buy a domain name. These tips will make it easier to find and register the right URL for your new site. When choosing the right title keep in mind that it will distinguish you from everyone else on the internet.

Whatever you choose make it easy for visitors to remember.

Write your potential names down on a sheet of paper. Go to a registration page that sells domains to the public and see which ones on your list are available. Once you have the list of names available take a look at them one last time. Do they fit easily into a web address that you can promote with little problems. Try not to register names with dashes or similar breaks in them, this will make it difficult for your visitors to remember.

Of course there is probably a title on that list that has been taken and you really wanted to use it. There is a chance that the title is on a page that is under construction in this case you want to do a little digging and find out who owns that URL, offer to buy it from them. This can work if it is a personal page or one under construction. This will be more difficult but still worth asking if it is a business.

Think about a different ending after the dot. Many think immediately of ending their web address in the usual . Com ending. Instead you have choices. Your choices are co, info, net, biz and us to name a few. Try these endings instead of the usual com ending and you may still get the URL you want.

There are times when the title is still not available, there is still one last thing that can be done. Have you tried shortening the name or for example using initials instead. Have a go at changing the spelling by replacing a number for a letter or vice versa. Just make sure it makes sense and is easy to remember.

There are many different ways to buy a domain name. With a little effort and some forethought you will be able to get the URL you want. If all else fails play with the title and see if you can come up with something else that works just as well.
