The mere possibility of having robot cleaners accomplish the most menial housekeeping duties is enough reason for those with very busy lifestyles to purchase several cleaning robots. After all, spending one's free time at home just to sweep the floor or clean the pool would just make one even more vulnerable to the ill effects of stress. Furthermore, professional cleaning services are simply becoming too expensive as of late, as some even need to pay a thousand dollars each month just to keep their homes clean. The question remains though: are robots better than humans are at cleaning?
In order to answer such a question, it would be necessary to take three different aspects of the home into account, namely floors, pools, and gutters. Robot cleaners have first emerged as convenient means of cleaning floors. Nowadays, floor cleaning robots are classified into two distinct types: vacuums and washers. Usually, Vacuum robots such as the Roomba 760 should be enough to keep floors clean, considerably lessening one's need to partake in the tiring activity. Despite technological advancements though, certain flaws still exist. Moving through thick carpets and tight spaces remain challenging for cleaning robots.
While some may be surprised, some robot cleaners are also designed to clean pools. In a way, the means through which such robots eliminate dirt from pool water is rather similar to conventional approaches. Instead of relying on massive tubes and pumps to filter the water though, pool cleaning robots, such as the iRobot Verro 100, have all the necessary filtration systems inside their compact bodies. Unlike the usual approach to removing impurities from the water, such mechanical cleaners move towards various areas of the pool, thus achieving thorough cleanliness while offering homeowners unparalleled convenience.
Unlike floors and pools, gutters are much more difficult to clean. In fact, the seemingly simple task of removing leaves from gutters is quite dangerous, as many fall while attempting to clean hard-to-reach parts. Using robot cleaners that are specifically designed to clean gutters, such as the iRobot Looj, minimizes one's involvement in such risky activities. Even though it is still necessary to set up and climb a ladder, one simply needs to turn the robot on and allow it to move throughout the gutter's length, thus eliminating the task of manually removing leaves with a scooper. It is also quite interesting to note, that such robots often have an auto-return feature.
All three robots roughly cost around $1,000. In most cases, monthly professional cleaning services may cost just as much. Indeed, in terms of price, robotic solutions seem to be the better choice. As for reliability though, cleaning pools and gutters with robots, may bring forth the same outcomes as hiring professional cleaners. However, the same cannot be said for vacuum robots. Albeit cheaper than professional floor cleaning, vacuum robots are unable to navigate certain areas well enough, thus still making it necessary to clean hard-to-reach spots from time to time. While far from perfect, robot cleaners still prove to be great alternatives to manual cleaning, making them an ideal purchase for busy homeowners.
