For example, the word "there" is not misspelled. But if used in a sentence where the word "their" is the word that is supposed to be the right word, an ordinary spelling checker may not be able to detect it. It goes way beyond that. What it does is make suggestions to make a statement more appropriate to the purpose.

Knowing the purpose of a written work is necessary so that the software can give suggestions based on that. A business article is different from a literary work. If a person is writing a business article and writes in a manner that a novelist would write, the software would detect that and make correction on how to better write it based on the person's purpose. This writing software will also give suggestions to rearrange words, remove some or add some, with the intention of making the work better, more appropriate and more effective.
