Neighbours, More Important the Fencing

In regular communities in the United States, fencing is rare. It is something that people deem not important for people living in villages having average-seized houses. A regular community in the United States has houses with garage, lawn and mailbox in front. There are no fences because people feel safe enough not to have one.

But in other places, it is important to have fences. These places are those that are in obviously bad communities. They have to be protected against the danger of being trespassed by a person or a group of men or being robbed by the same. There are many types of fences and for the recently mentioned predicament, the purpose of fencing should be for protection. And for such, those made of barb wires are the best option . It could also be the one with broken glasses on top of it, or thorns and spikes. But for purposes of putting up boundaries so that the others may know that a certain portion is part of one's territory, then other types of fences are needed.

When fencing it is one's prerogative to choose the design, color, style and type of fence he will put up. But one's taste in color, style, design, etc., may not be the same as that of one's neighbour. One's beauty may be the opposite to another person. The appearance of one's fences, while perfect for him, may be repulsive as to the neighbours. In such situations, does one's neighbours have say about the appearance of the fences one passionately put up? The answer to this query is no.

The neighbours do not get to have an opinion about the appearance of one's fences. Fencing is the right of every property owner and how he does it and what kind he uses or style he applies is totally up to him. As a matter of fact, even if the neighbour wants to do something about it, like fix it voluntarily and at his own expense, or repairs it or hires a professional to improve it, he does not have the right to do so. What the neighbour can do though is to get the consent of the owner to allow him to work on some improvement for the fences. But if he is not able to do so, he can just divert his view by planting trees around the fence, within his territory to block the view of the same.

The fact that one's neighbour can not compel him to make changes into his fences in order to suit to his liking is a good thing. This means one has complete freedom to fence his place without having the neighbours interfere. But if one's neighbour expresses his sentiment against one's fences and even offered to help make some changes, the wise thing to do is to agree. At the end of the day, neighbours are more important than fences.
