Fencing for Boundaries and Protection

The target of fencing is to set up boundaries. It is to make sure that in one's territory there will be no trespassers or invaders that may be potentially harmful to one's life or property. Fencing may not be that popular in small residences in the United States but it is in big houses and ranches and in residences with a wide yard, especially in suburbs. Fencing is also a trend even in small houses in third world . But the former and the latter have two different reasons.

In developed countries, like the United States, the main reason for fencing, as mentioned above is to set up boundaries. Those who have big houses and yards have to establish that their part is up to a certain line. They need to establish this because as big as their yards are, people might not be certain which area they need to stop touching or invading.

Another reason for fencing in first world countries is to protect the fruits of their trees, their animals, pets, and the like. This is especially true in the suburbs where a residence may include more than a hectare of land, where the residents also take care, within such boundaries, pets like dogs and cats, or bigger animals, like horses, pigs, and even poultry, like ducks and chickens. They need to protect these animals, not because that people may steal them but because these animals may escape and be lost to some unkind people who may slaughter them or keep them unkindly. Some fences are not really to protect the inside from the evil outside but to take care of the things that are inside of it. Just like that of the animals. If bad people would want to steal them, a lot of types of fences will not suffice. Many fences for sale and used to set up boundaries are low and have no thorns or spikes. This just goes to show that protection from the outside is not the goal but to keep those in the inside from escaping to their detriment.

It is a different thing though when talking about fencing in developing countries. In these countries, there often is a fence and a gate in every house, no matter how close the houses are with each other. The fences are made not so that a boundary may be set up, although that is also one reason for it, but mainly so that the people and property inside maybe protected by the evils of the outside. Robbery, theft, rape, murder, arson, malicious mischief, and many more - these are but few of the many things that may come to one's home unwelcomed if they leave their houses unguarded by fences with thorns and spikes. Petty crimes and crimes involving money are more rampant in countries that are not yet developed. And thus, houses have to be fenced not only for boundaries but more so for protection.
