Frequent travelers are already familiar of what to pack and not to pack for their airline travel abroad or out of state. However, non-frequent fliers might find themselves confused and lost about how to prepare for the flight and what they can look forward to during travel. Fortunately, the whole thing is not really that tough and with a bit of research, people will find that travelling can actually be fun.
Packing and Luggage
First off, keep in mind the limit set by the airline company when travelling. This is crucial as any excess will be paid for and no one really wants to spend big on their airline travel ticket. Two bags should be enough without the carry-on, depending on how long a person would be staying in a specific location. Ideally, the clothes are rolled and not folded to provide more space for items. Small items like grooming tools must be packed in their own small bags for a more orderly system. If there are bulky items like shoes, it would be a good idea to cram some small fabric inside it - perhaps socks - to save more space.
Keep Everything Important on Easy Reach
Travel documents, keys and other important items should be bundled together to make it easier to find them. This is especially true for passports, tickets and other documents that necessitate passage. Keep in mind that there are also other passengers in line who are waiting to be checked and finally board their flight. Hence, rummaging in search of a missing paper would only delay the trip for everyone.
Carry-on baggage is limited to two items: one carry-on bag and one personal item. The personal item can be anything from a laptop, briefcase, camera, purse or a small backpack. Of course, don't forget to pack some entertainment for the flight, especially if it would last for more than one hour.
Not- Allowed Items
The list provided by airline travel authorities about non-allowed items is actually obvious but it's surprising how some people overlook the fact. Some of those that are automatically blocked by airport security include explosive items and incendiary materials like gasoline, lighter fluid and even paint thinner. Liquids exceeding 3.4 ounces are also not allowed to pass through airport security except if they are sustenance like milk or baby formula child passenger. Organic chemicals and poisons are also included in the list which cover rat poisons, pesticides and drain cleaners. Other dangerous objects like guns or knives are also frowned upon and never allowed in flights, especially international ones. Even replicas of guns are not allowed inside and may only be checked in.
Keep in mind that airline travel safety precautions are done for the benefit of the passengers. Hence, don't be too impatient with the level of checks the authorities perform prior to and after a flight. Instead, make it easy for them to do their job by packing correctly and knowing beforehand what item's are on the "do and don'ts" list. With preparation, one can easily enjoy their airline travel and safely reach their destination.
