Essential Tools and Solutions For Cleaning The Carpet

Many years ago, (20 to be precise) I cleaned carpets just like how most folk do it today. However, little did I know all of that time ago, that a better way was looming.
I rubbed and scrubbed carpet all day long in those yesteryears. And you know what? I was doing it completely wrong. I simply did not know that there are tools available for getting the job done better.

What tools are these and were can I get them?

Well, for starters, my conception of cleaning a carpet back then was soley to do with using a powerful machine. The little machines available then, just was not good enough. They simply did not have the power to get the job done. Therefore my first port of call, was to invest in the biggest, most powerful machine I could find.

I went out every day cleaning the carpets for my customers. The machine I used was powerful alright. It almost sucked the carpets off the fixings. That was it! that was how to clean a carpet! The powerful machine was the answer to all my carpet cleaning problems as I thought back then. But it was not to be.

Carpets got more wet using the powerful machine. Whenever I came across soils in the carpet, I repeatedly went over and over the carpet continuously to remove soils. This in effect drenched the carpets and this in effect caused slow drying, wet for days, dull and lifeless looking carpet which was fit only for the rubbish bin.

Don't get me wrong, as I thought back then, it was all to do with having the biggest, most powerful machine. Little did I know that this was not so.

Many years later, having cleaned hundreds and hundreds of carpets, I decided to get real. I was flogging a dead horse with my present carpet cleaning efforts. Work was hard, low paid and customers were often dismayed by poor results after I had gone from their homes.

Constant thinking about the problem lead me to a solution.

One day, I sat at home and thought about my work. The machine I had been using had been repaired so many times, I don't know how it was still working. It was time for a new machine. It was time to make some changes. It was a time to discover a better way.

I had this idea that everything was going to be different. I did not want to continue with the same dowdy results I was getting from my present work efforts. I made a decision one day to give my customers the WOW experience. I wanted happy customers, not the sad and gloomy ones which happened to be victim of my pathetic efforts to get carpets clean.

The decision was made, but the how still alluded me. I did not know how to improve my carpet cleaning efforts. I did not know how to produce a worthwhile result for my customers.

I saw a glimmer of hope.

One day, I visited a carpet cleaning supplies store outside of my hometown. As I walked into the office to buy some solutions for carpet cleaning, I spotted something interesting. Right there in the doorway to the office was a brush. It was a funny looking brush which was about 18 inches wide on a pole. I looked at the brush and thought about it's use. What's it for? I thought.

Having been into the office and purchased my carpet cleaning solutions, I asked the manager about the brush at the doorway. He looked at me and replied, 'It's a Carpet Pile Brush, no carpet cleaner should be without one'.
'What does it do'? I asked.
'You spray on to the carpet a cleaning solution and then you brush agitate the solution into the carpet pile. You use the brush to agitate the pre-spray solution. Then you use your machine to exctract the soils from the carpet and extract the pre-spray solution too'.

MMMMM, now that made sence to me. After all, I 'd been cleaning carpets for so long, but I 'd never have thought of using a brush like this.
'How much does the brush cost', I asked.
# 14 was the asking price. 'But you 'll need a pre-spray solution to use with the brush. It's pointless using the brush without a pre-spray solution' he said.

I went away from that mans store without the essential brush and pre-spray solution. I could not afford to buy the two items on top of the solutions I went in there for originally. So I came away from the stotre without them.

But, that did not stop me from thinking about how the pre-spray and the brush agitation system would work. I knew I needed the system in my own business. So eventually, I invested in the two products that transformed my carpet cleaning business overnight.

At last, I found a solution for dirty carpets.

I needed no special skills. No training, nothing! I simply just used the tools as they were meant to be used. And you know what, hooray !!!, it worked just like magic. At first it was a bit hard getting used to using the system, but I quickly got used to it. From my very first job with the additional tools, my results exceeded far beyond what I was doing before. Carpets cleaned easier, more thoroughly and the drying time was reduced by huge margins.

I had happy customers from that day on. They re-booked me for re-peat cleaning about 6 months between cleans. Carpets stayed clean for so very much longer. And you know what?-- the happy ending to this story saw the success of my carpet cleaning business for years and years later. I was suddenly the carpet cleaner to use. And use me they did. And last but not least, they continued to use me for all of their carpet cleaning needs.
