There are only a few things in the area of home construction products which can really do what vinyl siding can do. A lot of then can say that they never need to be painted while many say that houses should say that homes need to be covered with wood and only wood. Vinyl siding was born in the late 1950's as it was a broad substitute for aluminum but of course in its early stages it didn't help when it faded, sagged, buckled and cracked. But manufacturers did not stop and they kept going and going until they perfected vinyl siding and now over 30% of all homes in the United States have siding as a part of their houses. The main reason is because it is cheaper and it takes a lot less time to install it.
There are multiple grades to vinyl but most pick a mid grade which costs right under $2 per SQ FT and that is with installation but it does not include things like trim and clapboards and paint which can make the price go up to three times higher. For many of us, the price really is not the issue it is the maintenance. If you have the right contractor doing the job, it can last 15 to 20 years while wood can last forever if it is maintained the right way. Nothing will make your home more appealing to the neighbors than siding that is installed by an expert.
There are five types of siding that you can choose from on the market today and each has its own type of dcor value. You should take your time and choose which one will suit your home very carefully. Aluminum siding is very affordable because it stands the test of time. It may not look all that appealing but it will not be ripped or worn that easily. Cement Board/Fiber siding actually comes in many styles from stucco to a wood variety which would give your home a stylish look. Cedar siding is a style of shingle siding that can stand the test of time and offers a massive structural strength that is second to none. This style can look like normal wood but require less work and can come in many different colors. Wood Clapboard is synthetic wood which is made to look like a variety of real wood. You can have your choice of cypress, pine, cedar, spruce, redwood and many more. This is one of the more durable of the siding choices. Vinyl siding is one of the more popular choices because it is one of the more inexpensive choices. It is durable, soundproof and it adds plenty of insulation to your new home.
