When considering supplements and bodybuilding, it can all seem confusing. What do you take? What do they do? Read more for descriptions on what each supplement is and what it does. Based upon your particular workout needs, you will know what to take.
You want to bulk up but are not sure how. Getting the most protein possible is great for your muscles. When it comes to supplements and bodybuilding, what supplements do you take? There are a list of items you can take, but what do they all boil down to, which is good, and which is the best?
Some supplements you can take for bodybuilding include: whey; creatine; CLA (conjugated linoleic acid); HMB (hydroxy methylbutyric acid); nitric oxide, glutamine, and beta alanine. What are these exactly and what do they do? The list below details supplements and bodybuilding, what these are, and what they do. You will find that they basically do one of two things: 1) they provide energy to the muscle increasing the workout duration and intensity and thereby increasing muscle mass; or 2) they serve as protein that the body needs in order to increase muscle mass. Both are to be used in congruence with bodybuilding. Whichever supplements and bodybuilding you choose depends on your area of need.
Whey is protein left over from the process of making cheese. It is basically strained curds of milk and is protein. Whey in similar quantities to that of eggs, has more protein. It is a known fact that you need protein in order to create muscle. The body needs it. If you don't take in enough protein, your body will use whatever it has, i.e. your existing muscle mass. This is why you must replace it in order to bulk up.
Creatine is produced by our bodies naturally, but in supplements and bodybuilding , it helps to increase energy. Thus, bodybuilders take it to increase their weightlifting performance as it provides energy to their muscles.
CLA is said not only to increase muscle mass by maximizing energy received to the muscle, but it also reduces fat. Some advocate that a deficiency in CLA leads to an abnormal increase in fat storage.
HMB is also naturally produced by the body. After an intense workout session, the muscle starts breaking down. It is HMB that helps it to build up the muscles by providing the body this protein. The result is faster recovery and greater muscle tissue.
Nitric oxide is a little different from the other supplements listed above. It is not protein, but rather promotes protein into energy. It is a catalyst to maximize protein efficiency. It also increases the blood flow throughout the body, giving essential nutrients to the entire body, and thus, allows muscles to "grow" larger. It is also helpful in prolonging the weightlifting session.
Glutamine as an amino acid is useful in building protein, i.e. muscle. Taking this supplement then increases the ability to gain muscle mass.
Beta alanine increases muscle strength performance thereby aiding the muscle mass increase.
Depending upon what you need, determines what you take as a supplement. If you need more energy to increase your workout duration and intensity, you should take nitric oxide or CLA for your supplements and bodybuilding. If you don't get adequate protein in your diet or want that extra something, take glutamine, beta alanine, creatine, or whey for your supplements and bodybuilding.
Analyze your current needs. Make a list of supplements that can meet this need. Then by process of elimination, you will be able to compare which supplement will best deliver. Not everyone will have the same experiences or needs as you in terms of supplements and bodybuilding. Considering your specific needs is the best method of determining what's right for you.
