A veterinary salary would obviously require that you be in the veterinary field. There are actually a good number of jobs in the veterinary field that would require as much education as a veterinarian does. If you aren't interested to be a veterinarian but you want to be in the field and work with animals, there are other veterinary jobs that could be a good source of income, and enjoyable jobs at that too.
Veterinarian
If you want to be a veterinarian, you need to work hard to get it. Looking for a veterinary job could be quite hard without good university grades, and failing grades in veterinary school just wouldn't do. If you are serious about being veterinarian and working as one, you should focus on your studies. There are quite a lot of veterinarians these days but only a handful of jobs for them. Studying for more than four years isn't done for you to be underemployed.
A veterinarian could easily make $37 for an hour's work. They work closely with animals and they really are doctors in that sense. Their extensive knowledge in the workings of animal systems makes them good for surgeries and operations. They are paid to make pets better and prevent them from getting worse. Veterinary salary gets higher as they grow on the job too.
Veterinary Technician
Veterinary technicians are required to have at least 2 years of education in the field. They could take similar subjects as veterinarians do. If the veterinarians are doctors, veterinary technicians are nurses. They are responsible for pet and animal histories and things to be considered before a veterinarian sees a pet or an animal. Most of the times, they are also the ones who aid veterinarians in data gathering and observation in research.
After two years of education, veterinary technicians are required to have certification before they could practice. After this certification, vet techs mostly get job offers of around $9 to $18. Every year, they could make at least $18,900 and at most $38,300.
Assistant Veterinarian
An assistant veterinarian simply has to be certified to be able to work as one. Education is not as broad as a veterinarian's but they would be required to learn how to work with animals and practice before they could get certification. Some could be assistants without being certified, but certification could make it easier for an applicant to get higher salaries and better job offers.
An assistant could make a little over $10 an hour on average, and this could be enough for many people. However, an hour's worth of work could be more than $14 too, and they could easily make $16,300 to $31,300 yearly on the job.
Choosing a Job
Working with animals could be an enjoyable , high paying job . A different job in the veterinary career would always lead to a different veterinary salary. Choose a job that you believe you would love, and you'd never feel tired and unsatisfied at the same time on the job.
