What does the HVAC in HVAC systems stand for? HVAC is simply "Heating Ventilation Air Conditioning". Most people use this term instead of using the longer heating and air conditioning. In fact, people often use "indoor climate control" in the HVAC acronym also. HVAC systems usually involve two basic parts: the cooling, heating, venting of air inside your home or business and then the air quality of those same places with the ability to remove things like smoke, dust, molds and pollen. It would be perfect for any HVAC system to ensure each air filter is removed and changed every month.
Contractors usually install one of two types of systems: residential or commercial. The two are totally different so most will offer or the other. There are some residential contractors that may offer light commercial. Obtaining the right contractor can be the difference between buying the best equipment possible for your home or business and total disaster. Most contractors will do certain things to let you know that they are doing things in your best interest. Those are: advising you on the comfort level in your home or business; the quality of the type of HVAC systems you plan on using; designing the type of system which includes the ducts; and performing all the load calculations on heat loss.
Usually HVAC systems can be worked on in three ways: repair, maintaining or replacing them. As stated above, depending on your system, the contractor will decide on what to do and how to do it depending on the system.
Commercial HVAC systems can either be heavy or light industrial or commercial. The light HVAC would cover the smaller businesses that use the split type systems, heat pumps, packaged units or other things that would most likely be found in a residence. Once the size of the building increases, so will the need for the HVAC system. The difference between these and residential are that the residential can be carried by hand, while the commercial usually have to be carried by small or large trucks especially during new installations.
Contractors that install residential HVAC systems usually do the smaller buildings like homes and dwellings. The type of contractor you get will depend on the type of contractor in your area. But when it all comes down to it choosing the right contractor is about doing your homework the right way. This can be achieved by calling around and not choosing the first HVAC unit you see or the first contractor you call. "Word of mouth" referrals are always a good idea when trying a contractor out for the first time especially when you know someone else has had a great experience with them before.
