It doesn't matter what type of flooring you've decided to have installed in your home. Once you've had it installed, you want to make sure that it looks nice for a long time to come, this means that you want to care for it properly. If you aren't sure how to care for laminate flooring, you are not alone.
With most other types of flooring, homeowners already have a pretty good idea about how to take care of the floor. For example, if they have tile flooring, then they know that caring for the floor is going to be easy. All they have to do is keep their floor swept and occasionally go over it with a mop. Carpeting requires regular vacuuming and the occasional deep cleaning. Hardwood flooring needs to be kept swept, and will occasionally need to be varnished and polished. Laminate flooring usually presents a bigger challenge for homeowners. Even though a good laminate looks every bit as nice as a tile floor, many homeowners tend to think that the laminate is not nearly as tough, and as a result they are often timid when it comes to cleaning the laminate.
If you are worried about cleaning your laminate floor because you are afraid that a vigorous cleaning is going to damage it, you need to relax. Laminate flooring is a great deal tougher than it might seem. As long as it has been properly installed, and all the corners and edges are securely fastened, you can clean the laminate just as vigorously as you would a tile floor.
The quickest way to make sure that the laminate you have laid in your house stays nice and glossy is by dry mopping it. The dry mop will dislodge any dust or pet hair that might have built up on the floor during the course of the day. The mop is usually a bit gentler, and won't scratch the laminate like a broom will, and since you are only using a mop, and don't have to get out any buckets and fill them with water, and your laminate floor will look clean and shiny with just a few moments of work on your part. You'll be amazed at how easily keeping your laminate flooring clean really is.
Sometimes dirt and hair will get ground into the laminate flooring, and a dry mop just won't be able to get it out. The best way to remove the dirt from the floor is by using a homemade cleanser that is made out of vinegar, warm water, and dish soap, most people find that mopping the floor with this mixture whenever the laminate starts to look grungy is an excellent way to keep the floor looking brand new. When you are wet mopping your laminate, you will want to make sure that you use as little of the liquid cleaners as possible. Use just enough to give the floor a clean sparkle, but not so much that it is going to leak under the laminate flooring.
