A green roof also contributes to sound insulation in a building. The soil that serves as the plant substrate blocks low frequency sounds, and the vegetation itself blocks higher frequency sounds. It increases the space for agriculture too, and if it is correctly installed and there are enough in an area, it can chuck up LEED or Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design points. A green roof also has many financial benefits, such as dramatically increasing the life span or a roof and increase the value of real estate. Green roofs can also be key components in an autonomous building.
