The world is faced with many challenges and power is one of them. Most companies use electric power that is usually generated using HEP (hydroelectric power). This source is not always reliable and many governments and people around the world are looking for renewable sources. There are many uses of wind energy and windmills have been used for many purposes. One of them is to drive turbines that produce electricity.

This would otherwise be a very tiring and long process to carry out. The other alternative would have been to use crushing stones to grind them.

Deserts where water shortages are a common have great air currents for windmills. The energy is used often to drive pumps that will draw water out of boreholes. Governments in such areas have invested a lot of resources in such programs to make the lives of their citizens better. The water can be used for human needs like drinking and washing and also for livestock.

The fact that they do not produce any exhaust like the conventional sources of energy such as fossil fuels makes them more preferred. The problem of global warming is caused by the exhaust gases produced when using fuels like petroleum to produce energy. This is one very big threat to human life.

Since it does not produce any forms of intoxicants and pollutants into the environment wind energy does not affect plant life. This makes it one among the most suitable forms of energy to be used in a farm. Its use might be to supply energy used in the various farm processes. It can also be used for irrigation.

Areas that have a high velocity of currents like hilltops are ideal for the establishment of power stations that produce power for use in the main grid. These are called wind farms and include dozens of mills.

The places where it is most widely used are in England and North America where many farmers use it to support their farming equipment and power up their houses. This is greatly economical and saves them the high costs they would otherwise incur.
