The condition of the environment is becoming quite alarming nowadays. The biggest scare is global warming that has been said to be the cause of many drastic changes in the environment all over the world. The ice from the Earth's poles and nearby mountain ranges is melting at an increasing rate, causing a rise in the sea water level. Many animals have also been affected by the increased heat in the environment. Countries have experienced extreme weather changes, too. It only goes to show that the environment problem is something that should not be ignore any longer. Whether it's global warming or other emerging problems caused by man's negligence of the environment, we must begin to make ways to conserve and protect the environment.

One way on how the environment can be protected is by using alternative sources of energy for industrial or residential use. Many people may not realize but the production of energy by the conventional electric companies creates harmful emissions to the air, and that causes greenhouse gasses and also acid rain. Imagine the number of electric manufacturers in all the countries in the world that are contributing to worldwide pollution. By using alternative power sources using renewable energy, pollution to the environment may be greatly reduced.

The most popular way that has been used for quite some time now is the solar panel. Solar panels have existed for many years now and researchers continue to improve solar panels to provide electricity. When the global warming scare hit the world, the popularity of its use increased, especially that many solar panel systems have been largely developed to support heavier energy consumption.

Another alternative source of power is wind generators which use wind energy to produce electricity. Instead of panels, which solar panels used to capture solar energy, wind generators use wind turbines to transform wind energy to electricity. This is another good alternative because it is a natural source that will never run out. Wind generators are installed on high towers so that it can capture most of the wind in high altitudes. Most of the time, the high-powered wind generators are installed in ranches and wide areas because these are the areas which has more wind power.

Perhaps the biggest challenges faced by wind generators is regarding noise pollution caused by the machines and apparently, many birds have been victims of the wind generators as they were caught up by the moving rotors. Most of these problems have already been greatly reduced using more recent designs and proper site planning. However, since the more powerful wind generators have been installed really far from the city, long power lines must also be installed to bring the energy to houses and establishments.

Like solar panels, wind generators have a bright future in contributing to electric generation that is safer to the overall welfare of the environment. Wind turbines have been successfully used now and more improvements are surely to come in the future.
