The cooling system in a HVAC is a computerized control unit that's used to keep your unit at a level temperature. It is designed to adjust to a number of factors such as the heat source, size of the space, outside walls, roof, windows and the people in the building. Since heat can be generated from all of these sources, enclosed structures without sufficient air flow can feel uncomfortable. This can also be the cause of dollars being thrown out the window due to improper enclosure and containment.
This is the reason that air flow is so essential in the cooling system of a HVAC unit. The circulating air must be at 1.3 of the heat generated by the system being cooled. This part of the HVAC unit exists in order to remove heat in controlled conditions from buildings of all types.
How the Cooling System Works
The most common type of cooling set-up is called a split system. This includes an outdoor cabinet that contains a condensor coil and compressor. Additionally, there is an indoor evaporator coil, which is installed with your furnace or air handler. The compressor is then able to pump refrigerant through the system. Refrigerant is a chemical that's key to the success of your cooling system.
The indoor evaporator coil detects warm air as soon as it enters your home. That's when the refrigerant comes into play. It takes this heat and transforms it into cool air. Afterwards, the refrigerant is pumped back into the compressor to begin the cycle all over again. Refilling the refrigerant is probably one of the easiest things to perform on your own.
The heat that's absorbed by the refrigerant is pushed outside while cooler air is blown inside the room. Simultaneously, the moisture that contributes to humidity is squeezed out of the air as well. This allows you to experience a cool, crisp air.
The cooling system is normally combined with the furnace because they both use the same ductwork. This network of paneling is what distributes conditioned air through the building. If these ducts are not properly taken care of or if one should malfunction, the costs of your energy bill could go up. Remember that cleaning your ducts often will save you money.
Maintenance
Cooling systems are essential to keeping buildings of any kind at an agreeable temperature during hot and humid days. That's why regular maintenance of your cooling system is so critical. It should be checked at least once a year before the spring and summer seasons. Most of the time, you can perform this action yourself but calling a professional is always a great idea. The refrigerant levels, air filters and thermostat are just some of the areas that need to be monitored on a consistent basis.
